Farce à la crab

The French word Farce indicates not only a comedy genre, but also stuffing. You can surely guess what will be the main ingredient of our farce from its title. The relationship between the play’s central couple, Zuzana and Joachim, has not been good for a longer period of time. Both of them – she is a speech therapist, he is a football-tennis player –are starting to succumb to the feeling that the only thing that connects them is the not very exciting “word football” game. But their relationship unexpectedly changes when they accidentally bring a crab from their holiday. It does not take long and the crab starts to speak for the very first time … And suddenly, we have a crazy love triangle! The original cabaret was written by the dramaturge Milan Šotek (the author and the songwriter of the original Cabaret Calembour) directly for the Moravian Theatre, Uherské Hradiště, with the aim to peculiarly continue in the tradition of Přemysl Rut’s cabarets. Fore mostly the main objective is simply a pure joy of playing – verbally, physically, musically!

The play was created within the Playwright in Residence program of the Centre for Contemporary Drama that is organized by Theatre LETÍ; the production was collaboration between Moravian Theatre in Uherské Hradiště and Theatre LETÍ.

Staged by Moravian Theatre, Uherské Hradiště.
