Štěpán Vranešic

He headed towards theatre by studying screenwriting at the Brno JAMU, where he was particularly fascinated by the work of Halina Pawlowská. During his studies, he developed a dramatic style drawing on the multi-layered nature of his native Hlučín region. There, within sight of the Ostrava steelworks, he learned that the line between laughter and despair is sometimes more than unclear. His exploration of the identity of his region also earned him the Evald Schorm Award for his original play Indian Princess Vladěna.
In addition to his dramatic work, he also plays the organ, breeds goats and has a wide range of professional interests. Before he turned thirty, he had worked as a journalist, a television director, a postman, a PR worker for a bishopric, a volunteer in a Greek orphanage and a content creator for the European Parliament. Although his dream job has yet to be found, the goats honestly don’t care.
